Ryan Maw is a Leo Award-nominated choreographer and performer whose work reflects a deep commitment to storytelling through movement. With a background in tap and a decade of experience working across film, television, and live performance, Ryan brings both technical precision and emotional clarity to every project he touches. His choreography blends classic influence with a modern cinematic eye—aiming to reconnect audiences with the joy, nostalgia, and narrative power of dance on screen.
Ryan’s recent credits as co-choreographer include A Week Away: The Series (Netflix/Monarch Media), Hallmark’s Christmas Crashers, and Get Him Back for Christmas. He served as associate choreographer on the Call Her Daddy: Unwell Tour, a theatrical concert experience for one of the world’s top podcasts, and continues to collaborate closely with Paul Becker on large-scale productions across television and film. Whether crafting tightly choreographed musical numbers or intimate storytelling moments through movement, Ryan’s work reflects a distinct focus on character, emotion, and rhythm.
As an assistant choreographer, Ryan has contributed to major studio projects including Disney’s Prom Pact, Paramount’s Honor Society, and the upcoming feature Get Us Home, choreographed by Jamal Sims. He’s collaborated with respected, award-winning directors such as Jessica Yu, Anya Adams, and Oran Zegman, and has built a strong reputation for his adaptability, preparation, and creative partnership within production teams.
As a performer, Ryan has appeared in projects for Disney, Netflix, NBC, and Paramount—Julie and the Phantoms, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, World of Dance, and So You Think You Can Dance among them. His versatility as a dancer, actor, and singer has allowed him to contribute meaningfully to both ensemble and featured roles.
A lifelong tap dancer, Ryan has toured with Postmodern Jukebox as their featured soloist and has been featured in Dance Spirit Magazine for his modern recreations of classic tap scenes inspired by Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. His tap choreography has been showcased on national stages, including Jacob’s Pillow, the Emmy Awards, and multiple festivals and conventions. Teaching and mentoring continue to be a key part of Ryan’s practice, as he shares the legacy of rhythm and musicality with the next generation of dancers.
As a director and creative producer, Ryan has developed several original music video projects—including the holiday-themed 12 Days of DANCEmas series and artist collaborations such as Remnants of a Fallen Star with Sacha Carlson. His behind-the-camera work continues to explore the intersection of choreography, cinematography, and storytelling.
